Voting Question: Cool thing to do that's fun for our anniversary?

So it's almost me and my girlfriend's one year anniversary, I live in southern California ,were 18 years old, our 1 year anniversary is on the 15th of this month and I wanted to surprise her and take her somewhere fun and nice that we've never been to not just the usual(knotts, Disneyland, raging waters, six flags). We have yet to go to the beach together, and I was thinking of taking her to the Santa Monica or Redondo pier.. I was also thinking of taking her on a 1 day cruise maybe, like pick us up at shore, leave for the day out to sea, then come back at night? Anyone know what pier would be the best for having fun? Or know of any cool cruises we would enjoy? Pretty much. Just need to know what pier is the best is so cal? and do you think I should go with the day cruise or just stick with the pier?
